NYC Deputy Director of Organizing
Emerald Snipes (she/hers) is a former ACS Administrative Assistant, an activist in the Civil Rights Movement, and a mother to three beautiful children, including her late sister’s two children. Emerald is the youngest daughter of Esaw Snipes-Garner and The Late Eric Garner, who was killed at the hands of a now-former Police Officer, Daniel Pantaleo. She has become the leading voice in the fight for Justice for her father and has vowed to never stop fighting Laws and Policies that help police officers get away with murder. She was a leading voice in the passing of the Eric Garner Anti Chokehold Law in NYS. This is a class C felony, punishable by up to 15 years in prison. Emerald encourages everyone to use their voice as a form of expression. She believes wholeheartedly that you can truly “turn your anger into action”. While staying positive every day she knows that the road isn’t easy but that God will give her and her family the strength.
