NYC Youth Summit at Columbia’s Beyond the Bars Conference – REGISTER TODAY

Are you a girl or femme impacted by the criminal legal system?

Are you a girl or femme youth activist?

We would like to invite all girls, femmes, and gender non-binary teens to the first-ever youth summit hosted by the Beyond the Bars Conference at Columbia University. Beyond the Bars is an annual justice conference hosted by the Center for Justice at Columbia University. This year’s programming theme “Until She’s Free” will focus on both the incarceration and criminalization of women and girls themselves, their families, and their communities.

This year, S.O.U.L. Sisters is partnering with Beyond the Bars to produce a one-day youth-led summit on Saturday, March 9th from 10 AM – 5 PM at the School of Social Work at Columbia University. Programming for the summit will include small group story sharing, workshops on the pipelines to prison, and a variety of arts-based community building activities. We strongly encourage Black and Brown girls and femmes between the ages of 13 – 18 who have been impacted by mass incarceration and/or are interested in youth activism to attend. Peer and adult allies are also welcome to join, adults must register with the main conference.

SPACE IS LIMITED! If you are interested in bringing your youth, please fill out our registration form at www.tinyurl.com/SayHerMagicMatters2019. For questions or concerns, please reach out to Kira Cabland-Pearson at kira@soulsistersleadership.org or (908) 845-5695.
